Grace Over Judgement: Day 3 🌼Judging with Righteousness🌼
Grace Over Judgement: Day 3
🌼Judging with Righteousness🌼
"Look Beneath the surface so you can judge correctly." - John 7:24
In John 7:24, Jesus calls us to judge with "right Judgement," a reminder that there's a difference between discernment and superficial judgment. Too often, we make quick judgments based on outward appearances or assumptions. But righteous judgment goes beyond what we see at first glance; it requires wisdom, humility, and a willingness to see the whole truth as God sees it. Righteous judgment means aligning our perspective with God's, seeking His heart, and relying on His guidance rather than our own assumptions. It involves humility—a recognition that we don't know the full picture and that God's understanding is far greater than ours. To judge righteously, we must approach situations with grace, prayer, and a sincere desire for God's truth. It's about listening to God's voice over our own biases, ensuring that our motives are grounded in love and not in criticism or self-righteousness. When we judge by appearances, we risk misunderstanding people and situations, leading to hasty conclusions and potentially harming relationships. Righteous judgment, however, is patient and compassionate. It’s willing to wait, to ask questions, and to seek God’s wisdom before forming an opinion. It’s a reminder that our judgments should not be based on what seems right on the surface, but on what God reveals through His Word and Spirit. Jesus exemplified righteous judgment throughout His ministry, often seeing beyond the surface to the heart. He looked at people with compassion, understanding their struggles, and offering grace. As we seek to judge righteously, we’re called to do the same—to look beyond appearances, to seek God’s truth, and to respond with love and understanding. Let’s be intentional about asking God to help us see others as He does, so that our judgments reflect His grace and truth.
📖Reflection:
- How can you take a step back and seek God’s guidance before forming an opinion about others?
- What practices or attitudes can help you approach others with discernment instead of quick judgments?
- How might looking beyond appearances help you show compassion to those around you?
🙏Prayer:
Lord, help me to see with Your eyes and to understand the truth as You see it. Teach me to set aside my assumptions and seek Your wisdom in every situation. May I judge with humility, love, and discernment, not merely by appearances. Help me to reflect Your grace in my thoughts and actions. Amen.
